About - Rich Barlow
JAG was originally founded by Rich in 2006 to provide technical assistance to aircraft buyers, operators, brokers and appraisers. This assistance included on-site aircraft inspections and records audits, as well as, explain technical and regulatory nuisances of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and various aircraft models.
Rich's early career started in the US Army as a Helicopter Technician. Following his separation Rich joined Dallas Airmotive as a TFE731 Mechanic and Inspector. For several years Rich worked as an on-demand Line technician and maintenance supervisor for many of the world's leading airlines, including: Lufthansa, ANA, JAL, Saudia, Air France, Continental, USAirways, ExpressOne and Emerald. Through these operators, Rich attended familiarization courses on many of the commercial and business aircraft in operation today.
Building on his experience in aircraft maintenance, quality and powerplants, Rich joined AVITAS (a world leading aviation consultancy) as an aircraft Auditor. There he performed physical inspections, records audits, lease redelivery and even repossesion of hundreds Commercial and Business aircraft, engines, flight simulators and spares. Rich was promoted to Manager-Aircraft Valuations where he provided value opinions on Billions of dollars worth of aviation assets.
Rich, along with two partners, founded GRA Aviation (which became Aviation Specialists Group). The intent was to provide a more boutique experience to their customers. While at GRA Rich oversaw the technical due dilligence of over 200 commercial aircraft that were owned by the, then, worlds largest aircraft lessor, AWAS. Rich developed the future aircraft value models for both Business and Commercial aircraft as well as models for simulators, spares and engines. While at GRA, Rich provided values for the Civil Aircraft Fleet Valuation provided by the FAA, helped develop and produce The Guide (a semi annual value publication) and regularly contributed articles and data for various trade publications.
The past 17 years Rich has been involved in the sales of aircraft, maintenance and modifications as well as operating Jet Assist Group. Rich spent nearly 10 years with aircraft manufacturer Hawker Beechcraft in a variety of roles including Chief Inspector as well as Jet Maintenance Operations Supervisor. He later spent 6 years with leading aircraft maintenance and remanufacturer Constant/Nextant.
Rich is a Member of PAMA, NBAA and ISTAT, as well as many regional professional aviation organizations. He is formerly the Communications Director for the Long Island Chapter of PAMA.
